David, a Louisiana-licensed attorney based in Alexandria, LA, handles mediations statewide through Sobel Law Mediation. He is a rare mediator who understands the nuances of professional liability claims from both legal and tactical perspectives. When David announced his retirement from litigation, both plaintiff and defense attorneys requested that he mediate their malpractice and personal injury cases. To further hone his skills, David completed a 40-hour mediation training program.
David's litigation practice had primarily focused on defending professional liability and malpractice claims made against physicians of all specialties, hospitals, nursing homes, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare providers, as well as attorneys, accountants, and architects. Additionally, he has mediated or tried cases involving premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, products liability, and land expropriation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.
After graduating from law school in 1986, David practiced at Provosty, Sadler, deLaunay, Fiorenza & Sobel for 30 years. He became the firm's first new named partner since 1969 and served as firm president for nine years. In 2016, he joined Faircloth Melton Sobel & Bash, LLC as a named partner and practiced there until retiring from active litigation in December 2024.
In January 2025, David was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at Tulane University School of Law, where he instructs students in Trial Advocacy.
David has been named a Super Lawyer every year since 2009. He is currently listed in the Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation) practice area. No more than 5% of attorneys in each state are selected for the Super Lawyers list. This selection process recognizes the most accomplished attorneys in the United States.
David has been rated AV every year since 2002. This is the the highest peer review rating. Less than 5% of attorneys achieve a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating, The AV rating signifies that a lawyer is recognized for high legal ability and ethical standards by their peers.
David has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law since 2013. Only about 2% of lawyers receive board certification from the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA). David's trials included medical malpractice, professional liability, premises liability and motor vehicle accident claims.
